the bottom line

Monday, July 26th, 2010

As of today, we have 21 kittens in care.

21 kittens that need food, litter, vaccinations, vet care, deworming, spay or neuter, toys, etc.

2 of the kittens are bottle babies.

4 of the kittens are in the process of being weaned

Formula for the 6 that need it will cost more than $5o0 over the next month.

Preparing the bunch of them for adoption will cost well over $2500.

We currently have no money to care for these babies.  Zip.  Without immediate cash donations we cannot provide for the cats and kittens currently in care, and will not be able to accept any more kittens.

The bottom line:  we are broke.  We cannot pay for anything.  Up to this point I have used my personal resources to cover short falls.  My personal resources are now gone.  Craig Street Cats can’t continue without immediate help.

Babies are here!

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Our first babies of the season are here, and they’re real cuties!  Mewse, Figaro and Oliver were rescued from Airlies St. at the end of May, and will be ready for adoption in a few more weeks.  In the meantime, here they are bouncing around in their playpen:

Of course, we have many other babies available for adoption right now.  Here are some of them playing with one of our volunteers:

Please call us at 223-6652 to arrange an adoption appointment.  You won’t be sorry ;)

It’s Kitten Season

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Our kitten season has officially begun.  3 fuzz balls arrived today, and many more will follow, I’m sure.  The cuties are about 4 weeks old, and just starting to eat solid food.  Their mom almost handed them over to me this afternoon.  Literally.  She put all three of them on top of a pile of bricks, and then just watched as I picked them up and put them in a carrier.  It was just about the easiest kitten rescue I have ever done.  Now, if we can just trap mom and get her fixed . . .

Documentary on Feral Cat Crisis

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

This documentary will be shown on Global, at 7pm on October 9th.  I intend to watch, I hope you will too.

The film is about feral cat colonies, and their caregivers, in Toronto, but I’m pretty sure the theme applies across the country.
