Lucky Craig Street Cats
Some Craig St. Cats have been very lucky. They have been trapped as kittens, and adopted by various good samaritans who either live in the area or are friends of those who live in the area. Five very lucky kittens were adopted by yours truly.

Tia was the first. She walked into an open pet carrier in August of 2007, and the rest is history. Tia used to spend a lot of time in the bathroom sink, because when she arrived she had a bad case of the poops. In fact, she was in great danger of being named Poopy Pants, for quite a while. This picture was taken a week or so after Tia wandered into the cat crate. The evidence of her latest “bum bath” is clearly visible
Fortunately, Tia grew out of her poopy phase, and became a beautiful, long haired lady, with an exceptionally long, luxurious tail. Her favorite pass time is sitting in the porch window, staring at birds and other cats.

The rest of the crew arrived in November, 2007. For some reason, their mother decided to give birth in my back yard wood pile, in the middle of October. I found them early in November, and couldn’t convince any of the local shelters to take them. I spent the next month bottle feeding and weaning 4 very young kittens.

Unfortunately, one of the kittens became very ill and died about 2 weeks after I took them in. The other 3 have thrived, though, and are all unique personalities.

Boots is a real boy. If he were human, you’d expect to find worms in his pockets. He spends most of his time getting into trouble, and then trying to love his way out of it.

Mitten is a dainty, little doll, with startlingly green eyes. She is far too cute for any one cat, and she knows it. Only about half the size of her brothers, Mitten manages to hold her own in the daily wrestling matches.

The biggest of the bunch, Misty is also a talker. He loves to express his opinions on just about everything. He’s also a great big cuddle bunny.
All of these cats are exceptionally lucky. Had I not taken them in, they would probably all be dead. The only one that might have survived is Tia, because she was born early enough that she had a hope of living through the winter. The others were born in mid-October, and would certainly have died before the end of November.
