Numbers climbing
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009I knew it was too good to be true. For a couple of weeks our numbers were actually going down. We were down to 11 cats and kittens in my house. That was short lived. As of today, we’re back up to 14. Three kittens arrived today.
Mortimer, who is about 6 months old, is returning. He first came in as a feral kitten and was neutered, then returned to the person who brought him in. He is back because he needs to be rehomed.
The other two are about 4 months old. They were found on Bannatyne and brought to me while I was manning our fundraising booth at Health Sciences Center this afternoon. Both babies are emaciated. They have serious ear mites, and minor URI. One of the boys has frozen ears and a broken tail. Surgery will be needed to amputate the tail at the break.
What is heartbreaking is that these kittens are all social. This means that they have had lots of exposure to people. They were probably all owned and abandoned.
