Rocky and Honey

Honey

Honey

This is just about the sweetest tempered kitten I’ve ever seen.  Honey arrived in early January, and has been working her way into my heart ever since.  She loves to be held and stroked, for hours at a time.  She is playful, but her claws never come out.  I think she’s just about perfect.

Honey has been spayed, and she is ready for her forever home.

Rocky after the fight

This is Rocky.  He comes from just outside the perimeter, on Henderson Hwy.  He was brought to us because of the nasty injury to his ear, which is from a fight with either another cat or a piece of machinery.  In addition to the cuts on his face and head, Rocky had scrapes and bruises all over his body.  Just like a certain pugilist of fame ;)

Rocky’s first visit was to the vet, where his cuts were cleaned and repaired, and he was neutered.  Thanks to Charleswood Vet and Friends Fundraising for Animal Shelters for all their help.  Once he got back here, it was quickly apparent that Rocky would not be going back outdoors.  He is a very friendly boy who will be a great companion for some lucky person.

He’s not ready for adoption yet, but should be by the end of March.  Rocky just has to finish healing and knock off a few rough edges before he’s ready for a forever home.

January Summary

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

For a month when I was supposed to just keep the feeders full and count cats eating, January was incredibly busy.  A total of 7 cats were taken in for spay and neuter.  Since they were all in the house for several weeks before their surgeries, they cannot be released.  This means they are all in the house, being socialized, and available for adoption.  So, we now have 8 kittens and cats ready for their forever homes.

January also saw the beginning of what I hope will be a long relationship with the Health Sciences Center.  Once a week we have a table on the main floor by the coffee shop, where we spread the word about Craig Street Cats and do some fundraising.  We try to book Thursdays, but sometimes end up with a Tuesday.  So far we’ve booked Feb. 5, 12, and 19.  If you’re at HSC on any of those days, drop by and say hello.

Plans are under way for a major fundraising event in May.  We hope to hold a 2 day rummage / bake sale at R.A. Steen community center.  Details will be posted as soon as they are available.  LOTS of volunteers will be needed to organize and run this event.  If you can help, please call 223-6652, or email cats@wolseleygirl.com
