Tonight’s surprise

Decidedly not going for TNR!
This week is my trapping week, and everything was going just fine until today. I couldn’t figure out why none of the “regulars” were coming around for food. The trap was out all day, with a nice smelly sardine in it, but none of the cats even came into the yard. Very strange.
My cats started acting weird a little after midnight, so I went to investigate. All 4 of them were in the front porch, making nasty noises and staring toward the trap. I opened the door to investigate and discovered a very big mamma raccoon trying to get her 2 babies out of the trap. She wasn’t happy.
After lots of negotiating, mama raccoon finally went across the street so that I could let her little ones out of the trap. I’m sure I looked a site in my best “letting raccoons out of a trap” paraphenelia (high winter boots, heavy jacket, thick leather work gloves), but the babies are out, and I didn’t get bit.
Stumble It!
