Our Tiny Orphan

Our Tiny Orphan

This beautiful little baby came to us from Ruby St., where she was found, all by herself, in a garage. Mom was nowhere to be found, and this little girl was some hungry, let me tell you! After a good bath and lots of kitten forumula, baby is feeling much better all curled up with her stuffed bunny foster mom.

This kitten appears to be about 2 weeks old, so it will be here for at least another 6 weeks before it’s ready for adoption.

Ivy

Ivy

Ivy is a lovely black and white girl, with stunning golden eyes. She just might be Harry’s mother, but there’s no way to know for sure. I had hoped that she would warm up to me, but Ivy wanted no part of life with people. She was released after her 10 day recovery period, and comes back daily to visit the feeder. She has been spayed, and now sports tattoo #UA3621 in her right ear.

Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini

Say hello to Harry Houdini, so named because he managed to wriggle his way out of a locked cat carrier after he came back from being neutered, and spent 2 days hiding in the rafters of my basement. A nice smelly can of cat food lured him back into the trap.

Aside from being a great escape artist, Harry is a very lucky boy. He is just 4 or 5 months old, and is the friendliest young fella you’ll ever meet. This means that he’s a good candidate for adoption, and will be going to a forever home very soon. Harry is currently living in my bathroom and enjoying the luxury kitten condo located just behind the bathtub. He comes out for a cuddle every time I go into the room, and loves to run his little motor. Harry will be a wonderful addition to a lucky family.

Decidedly not going for TNR!

Decidedly not going for TNR!

This week is my trapping week, and everything was going just fine until today. I couldn’t figure out why none of the “regulars” were coming around for food. The trap was out all day, with a nice smelly sardine in it, but none of the cats even came into the yard. Very strange.

My cats started acting weird a little after midnight, so I went to investigate. All 4 of them were in the front porch, making nasty noises and staring toward the trap. I opened the door to investigate and discovered a very big mamma raccoon trying to get her 2 babies out of the trap. She wasn’t happy.

After lots of negotiating, mama raccoon finally went across the street so that I could let her little ones out of the trap. I’m sure I looked a site in my best “letting raccoons out of a trap” paraphenelia (high winter boots, heavy jacket, thick leather work gloves), but the babies are out, and I didn’t get bit. ;)
